FAL- Q2 Aims or wishful thinking?

she can quilt

At last…I have beaten the boys to the computer so that I can finally post about my projects that I want to add to the Finish A Long being hosted by Leanne over at She Can Quilt The FAL is to provide motivation  to finish any Un-Finished Objects!

The first two are rollovers from Q1.
The first one is my Echo Quilt. This was nearly a finish in Q1. It is about 75% quilted so it should be an early finish. I am pretty optimistic that it will be finish in this quarter.

Second on the list is my Union Jack quilt. Some concentrated sewing is required to get this quilt together and then to start the quilting. I like quilting, but I find it intimidating too. I guess my skills in the quilting department let me down and I always feel disappointed with what I have done. This quilt will stretch me when I actually get to this stage.

I am also going to add a couple of new projects. The 'biggie' is to complete a weekender bag. It is all cut out and some QAYG has started. I have been building up to this project since last December. I have been choosing fabric, ordering piping and practicing skills that I will need by doing some smaller projects along the way (perfect tote and triple zippy purse). I have been catapulted out into the open to share this with you as it has also been picked as our first project for the next meeting of the East Midlands Modern Quilt Guild.
Weekender bag in progress

This has to be a finish as I would like to use it in May as we are going away to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary! So this may be the first project that I will complete.

Finally, I am going to add my hipBee quilt. I would dearly like to finish this one before the Fat Quarterly Retreat but I may be being a little unrealistic here! I will do my best to get it together, at the very least,  as I would like to show it to my bee mates. The blocks have finally all arrived so now I need to make a lot of flying geese to get this one done!

HipBee Block for me
I think that this list is a little unrealistic, but I will give it my best to get at least some of these finishes done. I am going to link this post up with the FAL over at Leanne's.
Di x

  1. Lovely UFOs Di - the Weekender will be lovely and who doesn't love a little Echo?

  2. Fab list Di - look forward to seeing your weekender!

  3. Oh you will be fine - I bet you will whiz through the Weekender, you have Mandy for top tips on that one!

  4. your weekender is going to be a stunner!

  5. I'm looking forward to you showing me what the hell I'm supposed to do on this Weekender pattern. Scraps are at the ready. ;)

  6. Gorgeous projects to finish up, Di. If I were you I'd intersperse the geese making with the first three projects to avoid a massive goose-a-thon. I always feel my quilting lets my projects down a bit too. It's my least favourite part o the process. I.m sure you'll think of some way to make the UJ quilt work beautifully.

  7. phew - big challenges here ..... I have every faith in you. I also need to pick your brains about what I need to do to prepare for the weekender bag day, I haven't got my pattern yet, so was intending to make some quilt as you go panels, but have no idea of sizing - any tips??? x

  8. Wow, a Weekender! I love all your projects and even if you don't finish them all I'm sure you will give it a good go. Even one finished project is better than none :-)

  9. It will be stunning when done though!I do not have the moral courage to join the FAL, so I am admiring your efforts!

  10. You can do it! And won't you have a lot of fab finishes when you do!!!

  11. Yeah go for it Di! Definitiely want to see your bee quilt and the weekender - stock up on needles !

Seeing your echo quilt I have just brought out my own stockpile of Echo - hmm must seriously think what to do with it! But not now - too many other projects!

  12. It is a great list and I think you will have fun doing it!
